Organizing communities is the core of where change happens. Did you know that even the Statue of Liberty was crowd-funded? It’s true. It was a joint venture of France and the US, and over 120,000 Americans contributed to the effort. Most donations were under a dollar (about $25 in today’s value).

Instead of focusing on listening to radio-hosts complain or just waiting for elections, we need to form networks of small communities and crews that work together to apply effective pressure on our local governments, so that they represent the interests of solid Americans and respect the rights of all. What’s a community? It’s any group of people with shared interests – a church, a group of local small restaurant owners, moms who homeschool. Community organization is not about gathering to hear a charismatic speaker talk about change – Community organization is about helping individuals within communities channel their existing concerns and frustration into productive and effective actions they do, and guiding them to strategically advocate directly for their own rights.
